Happy Holidays! We hope it was well spent with friends and family. As we put away presents and clean out the leftovers, let us not forget what happened 12 years ago today. The Indian Ocean Earthquake and the resulting Tsunami killed over 230,000 people in 14 countries. This was the third largest earthquake ever recorded placing 9.1 on the seismograph. Relief Organizations from all over the world descended onto those countries to provide fast relief and support, providing over (US) $14 billion worth of humanitarian aid. Providing aid is not cheap. We have to have insurance, have proper communication devices, provide our own gear for sleeping and working, airfare, food, water, security, translators, as well as medical and other supplies depending on the situation.
I know this time of year can be difficult financially for all of us but unfortunately Disasters don’t wait for a “good time”. Please find it in yourselves to donate just a little to Prepare ONE FLAG for the next disaster.
