- A disaster is a sudden, calamitous even that seriously disrupts the functioning of a community or society. Disasters may cause human, material, or economic/environmental losses that exceed the community or society's ability to cope using its own resources. Though often caused by nature, disaster can be man-made by events such as war.

- The greatest immediate needs of a disaster are water, shelter, sanitation, and medical needs.

- Disasters affect millions of people globally every year.
- What countries do you deploy to?
- We consider and assess the needs of any country in the world that is facing disaster. When a natural disaster occurs, One Flag will be in communication with other organizations and partners to find out if there are any needs for outside help. In the event those needs are there, we will assess how safe it would be to send in teams by relying on the US State Department and US military advisories. One Flag also has security and safety volunteers on hand who have to ability to assess if it is safe for US volunteers to be sent in.

- Although we are based in the US, we want to avoid the assumption that we are an organization that deploys to certain countries based on political or socioeconomic lines. One Flag's mission is to help others regardless of race, color, or religion.

- One Flag is unique in that we will respond to any type of immediate need - whether that is search and rescue, medical, or shelter needs. Our volunteers are made up of a variety of skill sets - first responders, medical, construction, mental health, water, sanitation, and administrative.
